  Are you heading to New York City for the 47th International Neuropsychological Society (INS) Annual Meeting? Don’t miss Dr. Jennifer Greene’s discussion about using base rates, profile analysis, and interrater discrepancies to enhance interpretation of the BRIEF-Preschool Version on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 8 to 9:15 a.m. in the Broadway Ballroom South and Majestic Complex. Published in 2003, the BRIEF-P is used to assess executive function in children ages 2 to 5 years, 11 months. A single rating form (also available in Spanish) is used with parents, teachers, and day care providers to rate a child’s executive functions in the home and preschool environments. The instrument helps assess emerging learning disabilities and attention disorders, language disorders, traumatic brain injuries, lead exposure, and pervasive developmental disorders/autism. The BRIEF-P is part of the BRIEF family of products, which includes the BRIEF2 and the BRIEF-Adult Version. BRIEF instruments have been translated or adapted for use in more than 60 languages on six continents, and the BRIEF2 is the gold-standard assessment of executive function in children ages 5 to 18 years. Our newest product, SPECTRA: Indices of Psychopathology, offers clinicians a new way to assess psychopathology by measuring clinical information about a wide range of conditions at three levels of specificity: Internalizing, Externalizing, and Reality-Impairing. The SPECTRA’s 12 constructs map on to DSM-5 conditions and help link assessment findings to the quantitative model research literature. Our suite of memory assessments, the Multidimensional Everyday Memory Ratings for Youth (MEMRY), the Child and Adolescent Memory Profile (ChAMP), and the Memory Validity Profile (MVP), were conormed and developed specifically for use with children, adolescents, and young adults ages 5-21 years. • Community PARtners: Creating Connections and Changing Lives

  2013 has been a very busy year so far for PAR’s volunteer team! PAR staff members and their families kicked off a chilly January with a children’s clothing drive for the Redland’s Christian Migrant Association, a group that serves migrant farm workers and their families here in Florida. In February, PAR staff members helped organize the annual “Stars and Pars” golf tournament and auction to benefit The Children’s Home in Tampa. The Children’s Home provides a spectrum of social services for families in crisis including foster care, adoption, emergency shelters, child abuse prevention, and more. What’s a corn-hole toss? Here at PAR, it’s an excuse to come together, test our pitching arms, laugh a lot—and raise funds to support Suncoast Hospice. A not-for-profit organization that serves local families, Suncoast Hospice helps those living with chronic and terminal illnesses, nearing the end of life, or experiencing grief. This year’s “toss,” held in February, helped raise funds—and awareness—for this vital community resource.
